Fitness Mentoring Session
Do you already have some kind of established movement practice?
If you already have a strategy for showing up regularly to spend time with your body, you’ll be able to incorporate the ideas from this session into your practice.
You won’t get the ongoing accountability or support you need to be able to succeed with fitting a new exercise routine into your life from this session.

This mentoring session can help with the following sorts of situations:

- When you're stuck on an exercise, or a life activity, and despite working on it for some time it hasn’t improved or gotten easier or you don’t feel you’ve gotten stronger.
- Finding ways to make what you’re doing more fun.
- Learning new exercises or exercise variations.
- Getting more of what your body needs in ways that are enjoyable to you.
- Making sense of your current collection of exercises, maybe fixing the sequence or frequency, or dropping some redundant exercises and adding other ones.
- Getting periodic help with your programming, to give you direction for the next few months.
- Adding a balance training component to your routine.
- Increasing the cognitive load of your exercises.
- Targeting greater mobility in a specific area.
- Increasing your energy.
- Getting a sense of your strongest and weakest body areas and abilities.
- Understanding the demands of an activity.
- Creating an activity specific training program.*
- Aligning your exercises with your goals.

* There is no written follow up for the session. You will learn how to prepare for the activity, and how to progress the activity specific exercises.
Regardless of your goal for the session I encourage you to take notes as we go along. You’re also welcome to take video of segments of the session for your own private use. Do not share video of me or post it anywhere.
This session works best if you know what you want to work on and what your question is. I’ll send you a form ahead of time to help you reflect on this and that I’ll use in order to prepare to give you the best help.
This is an in-person session. There will be an on-line option available soon.
In-person sessions take place at my home gym near Darrington, Washington
The gym is unheated so dress in layers for warmth and wear clothing you’re comfortable moving in. There is a toilet and sink available. Bring a water bottle. Be prepared to take notes if you want a memory aid. You’re welcome to bring your phone and ask me to take video of you.
My training focus is on functional (as true to life as possible) exercise. I use free weights, elastic bands, Steps and Swedish ladders or hanging bars. I’ll focus on using the equipment that you have available, though I can show you things on other equipment if it’s something you might want to add.
